Araújo & Sobrinho, was created by Manuel Francisco de Araújo in 1829, having started its activity as a paper warehouse, the former “Armazém de Papel ao Murinho de S. Domingos”, which quickly grew, expanding its business to its own typography, bookbinding and carpentry workshops.

Papelaria Araújo & Sobrinho is undoubtedly one of the oldest stationery stores in Europe, that stayed in the family for five generations. It is currently located in Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel.

Separated from the cellars of the wine to which it lends its name by the River Douro, Porto is the second largest city in Portugal and it preserves its roots with pride.
In Porto, the past blends with the present. The story of the city is told by its historical buildings.
At the same time, the emerging commerce breathes new life into the city, transforming the historical cobbled streets into open air shopping centres.

Along the riverside, the Ribeira quarter shows Porto's most traditional side: houses in a variety of colours, alleyways, the locals and the river. The River Douro is an invitation to walk along its banks or to go on a cruise, and the terraced cafés suggest a riverside cocktail.
With world-famous cuisine and a hospitable people, Porto is the starting point for a memorable trip!
